The particulate air filter is a device composed of fibrous, or porous materials that removes solid particulates from the air such as dust, pollen, mold, and bacteria. In addition to odors and gaseous pollutants, filters containing adsorbents or catalysts such as charcoal (carbon) may also remove ozone and volatile organic compounds. There is a high demand for air filters in applications that require good air quality, such as building ventilation systems and engines.
